Following the Direwolf 1000, the "Direwolf Phase II," a rod specifically designed for deep-sea oilfish, is finally here. After thorough testing during the 2020 season, we have embodied the demanding requirements of experts. It allows for surprisingly light jigging despite its 6-foot length. Furthermore, it goes without saying that it enables more versatile approaches than shorter rods!

Production is entrusted to a domestic rod factory. Each rod is entirely handmade by skilled craftsmen, boasting a beauty of finish impossible with mass production and a high level of perfection infused with soul into each piece. Due to rising costs of guides and materials, the current price is considered a great value.

High elasticity and a tip that returns with tenacity!

The blank is made from a base of 40-ton and 30-ton carbon, blended with 12% glass. This achieves astonishing "tenacity" while maintaining high elasticity.

We particularly focused on tip power, resulting in a comfortable operational feel that eliminates any noise or instability even when handling heavy jigs exceeding 1kg.

Actual Fishing Tests & Targets

Tests were conducted in the 600m to 900m range around Niijima, Izu, using SFC Spanky/Ark jigs weighing 900g to 1300g. It has proven its power by catching oilfish up to 70kg class.

It is easy to handle even in strong currents and demonstrates high versatility not only for oilfish but also for Niijima Kinme. It can also be used for amberjack jigging in areas with strong currents such as the Tokara Islands. Please consider it for expedition jigging with jigs around 400g-500g.
