Following Direwolf 1000, the "Direwolf Phase II" rod exclusively for deep sea Bluefin Tuna is finally here. After thorough testing in the 2020 season, we have transformed the demanding requests of experts into reality. It allows for surprisingly agile jigging, despite its 6-foot length. It goes without saying that it offers a wider range of approaches than shorter rods!

Production is entrusted to a domestic rod factory. Handcrafted by skilled artisans, it boasts a beautiful finish impossible with mass production and a high level of perfection, with each rod embodying meticulous craftsmanship. Due to rising costs of guides and materials, the current price is considered a great value.

High elasticity, yet sticky with a responsive tip!

The blank is based on 40-ton and 30-ton carbon, with 12% glass fiber blended in. This achieves amazing "stickiness" despite its high elasticity.

We particularly focused on tip power, resulting in a comfortable and precise feel when operating heavy jigs exceeding 1kg, without any sense of noise or instability.

Target lurking in the deep sea: Oilfish

Field Testing & Target

Rigorous testing was conducted in the 600m to 900m range around Izu Niijima, using SFC Spunky/Ark jigs from 900g to 1300g. It has proven its power to catch 70kg class Oilfish.

Easy to handle even in strong currents, it offers high versatility not only for Oilfish but also for Niijima Kinme. It can also be used for Amberjack jigging in fast-current areas like the Tokara region. Please also use it for expedition jigging with 400g-500g jigs.
