Hello! Recently, thanks to a wonderful connection, I had the pleasure of visiting "GOUKI" in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, where they have their workshop.
The room I was shown was filled with sample rods nearing completion, and I was able to hear many valuable and in-depth stories about the field and development.
Among them, I received various proposals regarding "tuna rods," which I have been most keenly interested in lately, and I even went as far as to request a special prototype sample be made.
I was told that during rigorous overseas testing, they had already caught numerous fish over 400kg, and domestically, they were repeatedly testing against fish over 300kg in the extremely fast-current area of Oshima. Kai-ken (Mr. Umi-ken) casually remarked, "Even 300kg class fish can be landed in 20 minutes."...
I gasped when I saw the presented specifications: MAX DRAG 40kg!!!
I couldn't help but blurt out, "Seriously... is that even possible?" The overwhelming development capability that sets them apart from other companies. The strength of integrated in-house production carried out at their Shonan Chigasaki factory. The unfathomable depth of tuna fishing. And the genuine technical expertise cultivated and accumulated through many years of various fishing experiences. Of course, the utmost commitment is to a powerful blank that allows you to slowly reel in monster-sized fish using only the rod's leverage, and an exquisite balanced design that enables easy catches in perfect sync with the boat captain. It's a max-spec super monster rod that doesn't exist from any other manufacturer.
While the effective MAX DRAG is 40kg, I believe very few anglers can actually apply more than 30kg of drag during a real fight. However, by retaining such a "power advantage" in the blank, the rod's inherent lifting performance is significantly enhanced, greatly contributing to reducing angler fatigue during long, arduous battles. This long-length model thoroughly pursues a balance between "long-casting performance" to strike at boils from large fishing boats over 40 feet, and "easy catch" after hooking up. For those considering replacing their monster casting rod, this is a rod I would unhesitatingly recommend!
This model demonstrates exceptional lifting performance on boats requiring easy handling up to 30 feet. It was specially designed to allow anglers, even those without great arm strength, to confront monsters with minimal physical exertion, pursuing an aggressive fight that gives the fish no initiative.
Crafted with the concept of jerking and fighting using a Black Magic gimbal. This precise length setting is designed to allow the angler to maintain control during power lifts and turns when targeting tuna mainly with fall techniques. It features an exquisite blank that bends slowly from tip to butt without being too short, too long, or too stiff. This special model is designed for fighting monsters, meticulously balancing for gimbal fighting.
This standing-specialized rod is designed to catch ultimate monsters head-on using heavy-duty large baitcasting reels like Shimano's Talica. It features a genuine blank thoroughly forged through extensive real-world testing against bluefin tuna over 300kg in the fast-current Izu area, washed by the Kuroshio Current.
