MOZ 155 LIMITED!
A Fusion of Madness and Craftsmanship.
TAKAMITECHNOS × AMBERJACK
The legendary full-solid "MOZ". The "MOZ155 LIMITED", a specialized model designed to conquer the giant amberjack of southern waters, is finally unveiled.
Around March of this year, Mr. Uehara, the representative of Takamitechnos, visited Miyazaki.
Approximately 15 years have passed since we began our business relationship with him. During this time, their "MOZ series", handcrafted one by one in their own factory in Higashi-Osaka, has garnered enthusiastic support from anglers and now reigns as an unwavering icon of solid carbon jigging rods.
Representative Uehara, a true artisan, and our shop, Amberjack, which prioritizes field experience. Our demands, often challenging, frequently involved unreasonable requests that were easy to convey in words but difficult to fully translate into a sample. However, he never compromised and readily indulged our ideas. At that time, I brought both the LM (Low Modulus) and HM (High Modulus) models of MOZ to the sea, feeding the data obtained from rigorous testing back into the "RENEGADE" series, ultimately completing a magnificent rod. Representative Uehara is indeed a true rod craftsman. He is a person who can brilliantly transform an angler's vague words into tangible form.
"The current Renegade series is also over 10 years old. Isn't it time to make some time for fishing and transition to a new model?"
Despite receiving such encouraging words from him, I was engrossed in daily tasks and unable to embark on new endeavors. However, that collaborative project is finally set in motion.
The Target: The cunning fish lurking in southern waters
This time, we have created the "MOZ155 LIMITED" together. The target of this rod is the cunning fish lurking in the southern waters.
In recent years, many large amberjacks have been caught in southern fields. Especially during the spring spawning season, a powerful "one-pitch jerk" approach often prevails over slower fishing methods. The hook setting also involves attaching only one hook to the front without hesitation, and vigorously jerking it up.
For this, we needed a rod that was not a conventional slow-jigging rod, but a "short type" rod that minimizes the burden on the angler, while also possessing the robust specifications to comfortably handle "heavy-weight jigs" against the deep-sea currents.
The Blanks Evolution: Tune-up Beyond Limits
This "155" was created by Representative Uehara with the "maximum specifications" achievable with current solid carbon technology.
Its distinctive feature is a setting that offers overwhelming torque while retaining a slightly slower taper (bend). The blank has been tuned up by adding new carbon fibers to the outermost transverse axis, dramatically improving its fracture strength. It is significantly more resistant to "twisting" than conventional solid carbon, and the rod quickly lifts in the correct direction, resulting in a finish that provides a solid feel and weight in the hand even when jerking heavy jigs at high pitch.
What's more remarkable is Representative Uehara's extensive knowledge. Through his collaboration with the super-large rod brand "GOUKI", he has greatly expanded his understanding of live bait fishing blanks and glass solid blanks, reaching a considerable level of expertise in glass materials. The feedback from these unique models is perfectly reflected in the design of this "155".
The "MOZ155 LIMITED" is a confident creation that we highly recommend to anyone planning a challenging expedition. Furthermore, taking advantage of its unique stickiness and beautiful curve, it can also be used for a bit of "live bait fishing". While it should have better bite than a normal high-pitch rod, please understand that it is primarily a jigging rod.

Afterword: The Story of TAKAMITECHNOS / From Higashi-Osaka to the World: The Unwavering Curiosity of Craftsman Uehara
Leading up to the completion of the "MOZ155 LIMITED" this time, we have repeatedly engaged in dialogue with Representative Uehara at TAKAMITECHNOS's home factory in Higashi-Osaka and out at sea. His approach to manufacturing is backed by a thorough on-site philosophy and an insatiable curiosity that can only be described as "madness."
TAKAMITECHNOS's greatest strength lies in its ability to complete every process in-house, from blank design and testing to carbon winding, coating, and final assembly. Full-solid carbon is a pure material that allows no room for deception. To maximize its potential, it is essential to go beyond theoretical calculations and repeatedly engage in the laborious process of making millimeter and gram adjustments by hand, then immediately heading out to sea for on-site testing. Representative Uehara skillfully translates abstract and vague requests from anglers, such as "I want a rod with this kind of feel," into physical "answers" through unique carbon arrangements and taper designs.
Challenging the Aesthetics of "Bending to Catch"
"The limits of solid carbon are still far off."
Uehara says. Without fear of breaking, bend the entire rod to its extreme, and use its powerful restorative force to lift giant fish. The aesthetic that TAKAMITECHNOS pursues is built upon the countless test blanks he has broken at sea. The "MOZ155 LIMITED" created this time is also a culmination of their insatiable curiosity, and at the same time, a starting line for new limits.
From a small factory in Higashi-Osaka, rods that excite monsters lurking in the world's oceans. We, Amberjack, will continue to pursue uncompromising tool making alongside TAKAMITECHNOS, a rare Japanese rod builder.
