FX HIROTA'S BIGFIN SQUID This squid glow lure is inspired by a realistic bigfin reef squid, designed by Hirota. It features the distinctive glow pattern of a bigfin reef squid. The key feature is the all-pearl white base, not a hologram. The glow pattern is applied by spraying a brown gradient from the edges, then manually masking each lure one by one, which is extremely time-consuming. While this is more time-consuming than standard paints, we asked SFC paint master Takezaki to make the effort. The exquisite synergy between the pearl white and special glow lure recreates the fleeing bigfin reef squid in the water. Especially in low light conditions like dawn and dusk, or on cloudy days, the exquisite glow effect created by the reflection of the pearl and glow lure recreates the bigfin reef squid wary of predators, turning on your target's switch. This color is also highly effective for stubborn bluefish such as yellowtail and amberjack, as well as amberjack and large bottom fish.
messiah
If you're having trouble with tuna jigging, we recommend the Messiah. The Messiah, renowned for its ability to target large amberjack, was passed down from Tsunehiro Sato to Kazuhiro Hirota. The high-pitch jerk method using the Messiah is a unique method known only to those in the know, characterized by its unique strokes and pauses. While the Messiah's long sliding motion often makes it seem like a typical long-distance jig, choosing the optimal weight for your target can make it a powerful weapon. Whether targeting large yellowtail amberjack with a dotera jigging lure or bluefish with an electric jigging lure, slow-pitch jerks with hooks set back and forth have proven effective in catching everything from large bottomfish to mid-sea scallops and deep-sea rockfish. I honestly believe the reason it hasn't been talked about much until now is because it's so effective. Not only is its long silhouette appealing, but the vibration of its fall, which begins with a gentle jerk and slide, is incredibly captivating. The time-tested and proven "Messiah" is available in weights up to 600 grams, making it excellent for fall-based tuna fishing, not just for large amberjack in the main stream, but also for large bluefin tuna in the Tsugaru Strait area and yellowfin tuna in the Kanto area. Another appealing feature is its ability to be used as both a slow-pitch rod and a hard-core rod focused on fighting, depending on the angler's skill set. We're also often asked, "Does it have a heavy pull because it's a long jig?" We'd like to point out that it's far easier to use and more maneuverable than other jigs of the same weight. For example, the fact that this 450g jig has been used to target large amberjack even at depths of 100 meters speaks to the refinement and excellent balance of the Messiah jig.
