Tobizo TC80 TUNA - MONSTER BUSTER - DBL
Length: 8’0”
Lure Max 60~160g
Lure Best 70~140g
PE 8~12
Overwhelming casting performance! A monster rod worthy of the name Monster Buster, boasting lift power that overwhelms tuna over 200kg. However, its true value lies in the castability and operability of lightweight lures. It can accurately cast 70g class lures, which were impossible to handle with conventional tuna rods, a great distance. This is an unprecedented power rod that brings out the performance of lightweight lures, which were previously sacrificed in exchange for power, without compromise. By expanding the lower lure range, the choice of approaches widens, significantly increasing the probability of a hit. It also supports the large jighead style often used in overseas bluefin tuna fishing. In terms of fighting, the monster blank generates repulsive force as it bends, demonstrating overwhelming lift power.
"Lightweight Lures" x "Super Power" achieved by the DBL power booster.
It breaks through situations that were previously impossible to conquer and becomes a new weapon for achieving your dreams.
Price: ¥ 120,000 (excluding tax)

Monster Blank
The DBL structure boasts astonishing durability, capable of withstanding the maximum drag of existing large reels at a high angle of 65 degrees. It possesses a flexible core that allows humans to bend the rod firmly, generating power and repulsive force the more it bends. Even in a fight with a monster that pushes beyond limits, the rod strongly assists the angler by enduring and lifting. The length is set at 7 feet 7 inches, which best demonstrates casting performance, lure operation performance, and fighting performance. Its flexible blank allows even lightweight lures to be smoothly loaded onto the rod, enabling precise casting to the target point. This provides a significant advantage in tuna fishing. To challenge monsters beyond human limits, a blank that can be absolutely trusted is essential.
Guide Setting
The guide setting is designed for ultra-large tackle, such as large reels of size 20000 or more and PE lines of class 12. Furthermore, the inclusion of an assist guide, which significantly eliminates line tangles at the tip, removes line trouble and enables smooth line release and stable long casts. Don't miss the few big chances.
Hexagon Rubber Grip (PAT.P)
Long fights against monsters. This is when you realize how important the front grip is. The hexagon front grip (EVA material), which is indispensable for big game rods, is molded into a hexagon shape with rubber material for the strongest power fights. The tortoiseshell Japanese pattern on the surface provides even stronger grip. This is Zenac's conclusion, thoroughly considered for long power fights with monsters.
Metal Reel Seat
The load on the reel seat during a fight with a monster over 200kg is beyond imagination. This is a robust metal reel seat designed to prioritize "absolutely catching the fish" and allow full concentration on the fight. In addition, a rubber cushion sheet is used on the reel mounting surface to suppress reel wobbling. This reduces angler stress during fights and repeated casts. *It may peel off with repeated use, but there is no problem with its use even if it peels.
Metal Gimbal + Rubber End
The rod end adopts a combination of a metal gimbal and a rubber end. For fighting styles that do not use a gimbal, the rubber end is used. By removing the rubber end, the gimbal becomes usable. A 2-way rod end for the best fighting style. If water infiltrates between the gimbal and the rubber cap in rainy weather, the rubber cap may become easier to detach, so please be particularly careful when casting.
Development of an astonishing monster blank
The most important blank performance in this rod development was "lift power that can float a 200kg fish while bending the rod significantly." With a blank that is too stiff, an angler cannot endure a fight with a monster. And 100g lures cannot be cast, nor can they be operated effectively. However, a soft blank cannot even float a 200kg monster, and the blank would easily break. How to solve this contradiction? What is needed is a blank that can cast a 100g lure a long distance and allows a "fisherman of normal physique" to "float a 200kg monster while bending the rod." This was the biggest challenge of "Project Monster Buster." Aiming for the completion of a satisfactory blank, we endlessly repeated [blank design] ~ [bench testing] ~ [actual fishing tests in the field]. And the development test, which took four seasons from 2019, was completed. The innovative monster blank that forms the backbone of the Tobizo TC77 TUNA - Monster Buster was completed.
What is DBL Structure (Deep Bias Layered Structure) (PAT.P)
There are infinite blank molding patterns, including the elastic modulus, thickness, resin content, fiber angle of the carbon material, and the taper design of the mandrel (mold), which are important factors in blank molding. From this infinite combination, the optimal materials are found in multiple layers (deep) with optimal fiber directions (bias) and layered. This is a completely different dimension from rods that seek delicacy or lightness; it is, so to speak, a blank design method for creating the body of a trained heavyweight athlete. This manufacturing method, which allows for free design of the required torque and power, satisfied the repulsive force, durability, and flexibility required for this monster blank. In developing this, high molding technology is required to composite complex carbon materials, but above all, the patient work of finding the optimal choice from an infinite number of combinations is indispensable.

Astonishing fight time of 40 minutes by Makoto Kinoshita
A 213kg monster tuna was successfully caught in a short time of 40 minutes in a single fight by one angler. The monster blank, which "bends the rod and lifts the monster," demonstrated its true value.

(Afterword)
Even for me, who is still training in casting, I can easily throw lures from 80 grams to about 150 grams. In a fight with a monster over 150 kg, just holding the rod at an angle of 60 degrees or more gives considerable pressure. Although I haven't achieved a single catch yet, the overall balance of the TC77 seems unparalleled by other rods. While it can target monsters, this one rod offers considerable versatility. It's light enough to be used for other types of fishing. It's so easy to use that for anyone thinking of starting bluefin tuna fishing, this one rod will provide the best experience. The TC77 is the best choice for those who are about to challenge monsters for the first time.
On September 3rd, I accompanied Mr. Kinoshita on a tuna fishing trip with Sea Rise in Hokkaido. The purpose, of course, was to actually cast the TC77 and TC80 and provide impressions. On that day, four of us boarded Sea Rise and cast with the TC77 and TC80, using PE 12. The TC80, which can cast lures several meters away, is recommended for those with less strength or those who prioritize casting distance. It becomes the ultimate weapon for tackling boils. On a boat of about 30 feet like this time, there were some situations where maneuverability was a bit difficult. I was concerned about the space when retrieving lures. I thought that the characteristics of the TC80 could be maximized if we chartered the boat with a small group to fish carefully, or if we could utilize the space on a large fishing vessel. In situations with shared boats or limited space, I feel that the TC77 can be used to attack versatilely. For the first rod, I recommend the TC77 for its good balance. Having both the TC80 and TC77 would undoubtedly be a great weapon. The TC77 is a limited production model. The TC80 will be a regular lineup.
